Who we are

Megaways Online (megawaysonline.com) is an independent informational website publishing reviews of online slot games and casinos, operated by Duwayne Cowney, who is the data controller for any personal data processed through this site. We do not operate gambling services and we do not process payments or wagers. For anything in this policy, contact hello@megawaysonline.com.

What we collect, why, and for how long

Very little. This site has no user accounts, no comment forms and no newsletter. We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not set cookies of any kind.

Site analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless service, to understand aggregate site usage — page views, referrers, country and device type. It does not use cookies or local storage, does not track you across sites, and cannot identify you: visits are counted via a temporary hash that is discarded within 24 hours. Our legal basis is legitimate interest (understanding how the site is used). Details are in Vercel's analytics privacy documentation.

Theme preference. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is saved in your browser's local storage. It stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and you can remove it at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

Search. The site search runs entirely in your browser: it downloads a static index of our page titles and matches your query locally. What you type is never sent to us or to anyone else.

Hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel Inc.) records standard technical server logs — such as IP address, browser type and pages requested — which are needed to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Our legal basis for this is legitimate interest (running a secure website). These logs are retained only briefly and are processed under Vercel's own privacy policy. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.

Free demo games

Slot review pages offer free play-money demos. No demo content loads when you open the page. If you press “Play Free Demo”, your browser loads the game directly from the game provider's servers (for example Pragmatic Play, Red Tiger or Big Time Gaming). From that moment the provider receives the technical data involved in any web request — such as your IP address and device type — and may use cookies or similar technology inside the game frame, under that provider's own privacy policy.

We configure these embeds so that your browser does not tell the provider which of our pages you came from, and we receive no data about your demo play. If you prefer not to share anything with game providers, simply don't start a demo — every review is fully readable without one.

Casino links and third parties

Links to casinos on this site are affiliate links. If you follow one, the casino operator (and its tracking platform) may set cookies and collect data on their own sites under their own privacy policies — we encourage you to read them before registering. We receive aggregate referral statistics from these programmes, not your personal details.

All outbound links are sent with a no-referrer policy, meaning your browser does not tell the destination site which of our pages you came from.

International transfers

Our hosting provider is a US company serving the site from a global network, so the technical log and aggregate analytics data described above may be processed outside the UK/EEA. Vercel applies the safeguards described in its data processing agreement, including standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

As a South African operator we process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Depending on where you live, equivalent laws may also protect you — for example the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR or Canada's PIPEDA. Under these laws you have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal data held about you, to restrict or object to its processing, and to withdraw any consent. Since we hold essentially no personal data, requests will usually be a short conversation — but email us and we will help, including passing requests to our hosting provider where relevant. We will respond within one month.

You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority — the Information Regulator (South Africa), or your local authority such as the ICO in the UK or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in Canada.

Age restriction

This site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect any information from minors, and our content is not directed at them.

Changes to this policy

If we add features that change how data is handled, this policy will be updated first and the date above revised. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
